WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY?

What is God’s intended purpose for the church? Is it entertainment? Recreation? Politics? Chili suppers? Yard sales? Volleyball? Coffee and donuts? What does the Bible say?

The church at Corinth was scolded for coming together for the wrong purpose. I CORINTHIANS 11:17-34, (22) "What! Do you not have houses to eat and drink in? Or do you despise the church of God and shame those who have nothing? Shall I praise you in this? I do not praise you. (26) For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes. Therefore whoever eats this bread and drinks this cup in an unworthy manner will be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. (34) But if anyone is hungry, let him eat at home, lest you come together for judgment."

MARK 7:9 – "All too well you reject the commandment of God, that you may keep your traditions."

HEBREWS 12:28 – "…let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear."

JOHN 4:23 – "But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him."

MATTHEW 28:19 – "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, (20) teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you…"
